Calls to Action!

We’re joining our partner organizations in asking you to contact your elected reps to take action on the following bills.

Ask your state reps to support Green New Deal Virginia 2022 legislative priorities!

When the Cuyahoga River caught fire 52 years ago, it spurred the modern environmental movement and led to the creation of the EPA. Last week, the Gulf was on fire, hundreds died in the Pacific Northwest heatwave, and right now, cities are being consumed by flames. There has been a lot of talk about Green New Deal. It is not an environmental plan. It is an intersectional plan with the intentionality of lifting up people. We can address both the climate crisis and the inequality crisis with the same set of policies. As the impacts of climate change mount, inequality will continue to grow. We have to shift away from extracting and burning fossil fuels and towards a lower carbon economy.

Although 2022’s language is still being finalized, we need your help NOW to cultivate support by talking to your legislators about Green New Deal Virginia Coaltion’s legislative priorities.

Send a letter to your state representatives asking them to support Green New Deal Virginia Coalition legislation in 2022.

Tell Sen. Warner To Sign Onto & Support the PRO Act

Senator Mark Warner is one of 5 Democratic Senators NOT supporting the PRO Act. He is the ONLY Federal Elected Official from Virginia not voting for the PRO act as well. It is incredibly important for Virginians to reach out to his office and tell him that he needs to support this bill.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act last year, but anti-worker legislators in the Senate blocked it. Undeterred, working people fought to elect pro-worker lawmakers to the Senate, House and White House. And we won.

Lawmakers gave us their word they would make the PRO Act a top priority. It’s time for them to keep that promise. The House passed the PRO Act for a second time on March 9, 2021, sending the bill to the U.S. Senate.

Help ban campaign contributions from Dominion and other Public Service Corporations!

It is time to get big money and corporate influence out of politics and the first step we want to take is prohibiting publicly regulated utilities and other public service corporations from donating to campaigns. It is not the final step but it is the first one down a long road to establishing a legislature that represents people, and not profits.
